Our Auto Repair and Maintenance Services

Our McKinney, Texas auto repair and maintenance services includes these and more:

Tire rotation and balancing services

Our rotation and balancing services won’t take much of your time, but they’re important for extending the life of your tires and making sure you’re driving on safe tires. If you’ve noticed unusual vibrations when you drive or excessive wear on one of your tires, make an appointment for tire service. We also offer flat tire repairs, tire pressure checks, and more.

Oil change and lube service

One of the best ways to keep your vehicle running strong is an oil change. At Driver’s Edge, our technicians use only high-quality oil and filters and can complete your oil change quickly. If you’ve noticed your engine running louder than it should or if you have a dashboard light illuminated that indicates low oil or “check engine,” make an appointment for an oil change as soon as possible. We’ll be glad to confirm the oil change schedule that’s right for the make and model of your vehicle.

Car AC repair

When the average summer high is well above 90 degrees in McKinney and your AC is blowing warm air, repairs to your vehicle’s AC system can’t wait. Every Driver’s Edge location has ASE-Certified technicians who will conduct a thorough inspection of your system, including testing vent temperatures, inspecting for visible leaks, measuring Freon pressure, running a performance test, and more. If your car AC isn’t blowing cold air, or if you notice odd noises or odors coming from your system, make an appointment at your nearest McKinney location.

Brake service and repair

Even minor brake problems can compromise safety. If your car or truck pulls to the side when you brake, if you hear squealing or grinding noises, or you’ve just noticed that it takes more pressure on the pedal or more distance to come to a complete stop, don’t wait to have your brakes checked.

Will service at Driver’s Edge void my manufacturer’s warranty?

No, you don’t have to take your car to the dealership to keep your warranty valid. You can get your vehicle serviced or repaired by any reputable auto repair shop. The dealership can’t deny warranty coverage if services are done by a car repair shop, but if you have any concerns, call your warranty company to verify. We want you to feel confident having your service done at Driver’s Edge by our factory-trained technicians.

How will I know when my tires need to be checked?

Make it a habit to inspect your tires about once a month. The main thing to look for is uneven tread wear, but also check for:

  • Cracks in the sidewalls
  • Embedded objects (nails, glass, etc) in a tire
  • Bulges, blisters, and other odd-looking spots

If you see any of these red flags or notice more vibration than normal while driving, make an appointment and come in for a tire inspection

Does Driver’s Edge offer oil changes?

Yes! A regular oil and oil filter change is part of any vehicle’s preventative maintenance so it is included in every package we have. Most vehicles should have the oil changed and oil filters replaced every 3,000 to 6,000 miles (or every six months).

One reason to let Driver’s Edge do your oil changes rather than a quick lube business is that our technicians will visually inspect other areas of the vehicle at the same time. This keeps small problems from turning into expensive, time-consuming repairs later.

How often do brakes need replacing?

Brake pads should generally be replaced every 10,000 to 20,000 miles. Rotors last a little longer, between 50,000 and 70,000 miles. When your car reaches these milestones, come to Driver’s Edge for a brake inspection.

In the meantime, if you hear squeaking, squealing, or grinding, or feel rubbing or pulsating when braking, it might be time for a brake repair or brake pad replacement.

Is diesel engine oil better?

Here are some signs of common brake issues:

  • Poor braking performance
  • Squeaking, squealing, or grinding noises
  • Pulsation or grabbing during braking
  • Clicking noises when braking
  • ABS light for antilock brakes lights up
  • Loss of power assist

Brake repairs might mean replacing brake pads, shoes, and rotors, an important part of routine vehicle maintenance.
